Kenya will be the setting for this year’s October Charity Bike Ride Challenge, organised by Norwood, a UK charity that provides support to children, families and adults with disadvantages or learning disabilities.
The route will cover 400km of breathtaking scenery and is spread over six days. Participants will set off from the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and finish at the Indian Ocean near the coastal town of Mombasa. Along the way, they will have to contend with a host of gruelling physical challenges, including blistering heat and difficult terrain.
The 2010 Bike Ride Challenge will be the tenth time that John Grant, a lawyer for Cohen Cramer & Co. and Chairman of The Association of Specialist Providers to Dentists (ASPD) has taken part. Since his first bike ride in 1993, John has cycled over 3,000 miles during previous events and over 33,000 in training.
To date, John’s efforts have raised over £35,000 for several UK charities. This year, John hopes to break the £5,000 mark, bringing the total amount raised for Norwood to £40,000.
